Kate Hudson is an accomplished actor, most famous for her performance as Penny Lane in the Hollywood movie Almost Famous which earned her an Academy Award nomination. She was born into a film family, Hudson was destined to be in the spotlight as a child. Her mother Goldie Hawn was a film actor , and her father Bill Hudson is comedian. She was passionate about performing from an early age and was always eager to take advantage of any opportunity to dance and sing on the stage. She was taught to dance by her parents. She also took ballet lessons at the Santa Monica Playhouse as a child. Her first acting experience came in 1996 after she received a role in the TV drama Party of Five. Even though she was accepted by New York University, Kate Hudson was more focused on becoming a showbiz entrepreneur than an academic degree. After a few minor roles in films, she was offered the role which would become one of her major roles in her career. She was chosen to play Penny Lane in the comedy-drama film Almost Famous. The film didn't do very well at the box-office however it was praised by reviews from critics. It established Kate as an actor within the American film industry.
